Interview: Venus Fly Trap

When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?

BEBE is the most recent single-well im fascinated with sci fi and was inspired by the 1950s classic FORBIDDEN PLANET especially the soundtrack which was one first using electronics and its a homage to the composers BEBE & LOUIS BARRON.

How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?

It’s a mix of late 70s/80s new wave with electronics..catchy but a little dark…short sharp and whizzs past like a satellite orbiting the earth..

Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?

As explained above its a homage and a sci fi dark noir cinematic vision… • How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before? were always evolving the sound but this is more of a single as opposed to an album track but we will back into the dark soon enough…

What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?

All the songs either come together quickly or need reshaping and constant re editing..but sometimes the more difficult ones make you come up with something different a challenge is always bring out something extra..

Why should a reader check out the track?

If you like sci fi post punk electronica this might be up your strasse…

What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?

It will appear on the new album DEJA VU a recollection/rarities 1986/2026 out on GLASS MODERN in july…
