Works have been underway in the Amongst Liars camp, a cabinet re-shuffle if you will as my friend Leo Burdett steps up to the mic to assume vocal duties alongside his fancy fretwork. With our friends Ross, James and Adam, they throw themselves into the breach with new single ‘Repair Myself’ and what a little tinker it is.
Exuding the passion and flair that is synonymous with this band, we hear the sounds that are familiar and through this recognition we accept this new chapter. The industrial effect to begin with, leading to the contrasting stillness at 1.57 before resurging with the formidable sound of Modern Metal, clearly Amongst Liars have more to show us.
There is no gentle outro that fades gradually, we get an abrupt ending that signals the arrival of a band that will continue to grow and improve on the skills they already possess.
It is not always easy when things change, life is indeed a mixed bag, of nuts maybe, but I’m ready to jump on board and I hope you will join us.
Whether you opt for repairs or not, pick up the pieces and work with the glass half full.
Emptiness will always feature in whatever shape, our survival skills, that’s the repair kit we possess.
