Following a blistering run of packed out summer dates, Jake Bugg is back with his anthemic new single ‘Oblivious’. The single is the latest unreleased track from the special deluxe repack of his celebrated album A Modern Day Distraction, which comes November 7th on Lovebugg.
The second track to be taken from the deluxe album, ‘Oblivious’ is a celebration of British guitar music. After a summer that saw it return to the forefront, British guitar music is sounding as good and as fresh as ever, with ‘Oblivious’ carrying the torch.“‘Oblivious’ is the final release from the deluxe album,” Jake said of the track. “We had this one finished quite early in the writing, so it’s great to include it here, and give the song its moment in the sun”. Featuring four brand new tracks – ‘Never Said Goodbye (Single Version),’ ‘Oblivious’, ‘Too Late Now’ and ‘Feels Like The Sunshine’ – A Modern Day Distraction Deluxe Edition will be released on deluxe CD with a 16 page booklet, white vinyl and digitally. “After we released the album we realised we weren’t finished creatively so we headed back in the studio and made more tracks,” Jake said of the deluxe release. “All of these would have gone on the original, so we’re releasing a deluxe version that feels more like the complete record.“
13 years and seven albums into his career, A Modern Day Distraction cements Jake as one of the UK’s most established and enduring songwriters in the UK. Recorded at Metrophonic Studios in London and produced by Mark Taylor and Patrick Mascall, the very special repack features four brand new tracks and will be released on vinyl, CD and digitally. An album that saw Jake return to his roots, A Modern Day Distraction shines a light on the injustice Jake seen dealt to the family and friends he grew up with. Fiery and engaged, the record was born out of a frustration of societal inequality.
Still only 31 years old and with a discography well beyond his years in his armoury, Jake is just as relevant as ever. Still filling venues the world over, the best is yet to come.
