When did the initial idea for ‘Weight of Doubt’ come together?
I (Marco Brantner) usually keep little ideas, riffs, and melodies that come to me, and later I revisit them when the right moment of inspiration strikes. “Weight of Doubt” was supposed to be born that way — from one of those saved riffs. But then I invited Alex Carvalho, the pianist who plays with us, to join me in the writing process. The funny thing is, the riff I had ended up taking us in a completely different direction. I loved the vibe so much that we built the song around it, and the original riff didn’t even make it into the track (I’ve still got it saved for another song). So while the seed of the idea had been there for a few years, the actual song came together very quickly, within about three or four days.
How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?
“Weight of Doubt” is an indie folk song that blends intimacy with power. It starts from an acoustic-driven base and gradually builds into something dynamic and uplifting, carried by heartfelt lyrics and the contrast of two distinct voices. The track speaks about resilience and holding on to your dreams even when uncertainty creeps in. For someone who’s never heard us before, it’s a good introduction to our sound, emotional storytelling, layered harmonies, and a balance between vulnerability and strength.
Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?
At its core, “Weight of Doubt” is about resilience. It’s a song that acknowledges how doubts and uncertainties can weigh heavily on us when we’re pursuing our dreams or goals. But instead of giving in to that weight, the track is about pushing through, finding strength in the struggle and trusting that every step forward brings more clarity. It’s both a reflection of our own journey and a message of encouragement to anyone facing moments of hesitation in theirs.
How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?
The sound of “Weight of Doubt” is very much in line with our core style, but we tend to write more ballads. That’s why it feels refreshing to create a track with such positive energy, one that becomes truly contagious when played live. What’s also new for us in this chapter is the process: we’re experimenting with performing songs live first, before recording them in the studio. It gives us the chance to refine them along the way and really feel their impact on the audience.
What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?
It really depends on the song, but in general the most challenging part for us is always finding the right arrangements and sound to fully carry the message and vision of the track. With “Weight of Doubt” it was important that the energy matched the lyrical theme, that balance between vulnerability and strength, so shaping the dynamics of the arrangement was the part that required the most focus.
Why should a reader check out the track?
Because we all go through moments when we feel low and need an extra push of positivity. “Weight of Doubt” is that kind of song, a real boost of energy that can help you pick yourself up and move forward with strength in your daily battles and goals.
What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?
One special thing about “Weight of Doubt” is that it marks the beginning of our new tour, which carries the same name. We’ve been performing it live in theatres with sold-out audiences, and it’s been amazing to feel how the song resonates in that setting.
