The latest release from Brightr is here and it has been a very pleasant album to review. Here’s my quick take on it, starting with his opening track ‘Sunshine Coast’ which is short and sweet but not at all lacking in his signature twiddles. His vocals on this track are particularly soft and gentle, perfect to ease you into this album. ‘Year Two’ is available for preorder now and comes out 25th of July.
Brightr is well known for his raw honesty and emotion packed lyrical content and that still rings true in the second track ‘Charles Petrescu’, the whole album is in keeping with what you know and love about him.
Each and every song offers something from enchanting intros to clever lyrics, uplifting yet gloomy he has the gentlest approach to discussing mental health. His openess is comforting and wrapped up in this melodic journey it’s a piece of healing you didn’t know you needed. If you enjoyed the ‘Punk Goes Accoustic’ compilations back in the day you will absolutely devour this album, it’s similar in ways but almost a little cleverer somehow. Brightr consistently offers fresh yet nostalgic songs, this album is the next dose.
I highlighted a few tracks as my favourites for you to check out ‘Whimsy’ for it’s atmospheric beauty, ‘Lugosi’ is a total toe tapper and ‘Never Home, Never Mind’ which I believe was released as a single. I’ve had the nicest time relaxing in the sunshine in my garden listening to this but you could kick back just about anywhere to this record. I highly recommend checking it out.
