The foundation of We Shall Rise began with a brilliant riff provided by Orion Roos, who shared several ideas with me that could serve as the basis for a new song. Among them, one particular riff stood out – it had a powerful, uplifting energy that immediately sparked inspiration. From there, I began to shape the song, weaving melodies and lyrics around Orion’s riff to create something that would serve as a beacon of hope within The Book of Pain. Since the album delves into themes of loss and hardship, I wanted We Shall Rise to provide a sense of resolution and strength, making it the perfect closing track. The song came together organically, growing from that ingenious guitar motif into the anthemic, emotionally charged piece it is today.
