The Haptics discuss new single ‘Biodome’!

When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?

Cam (guitarist) came into practice with a song he’d been working on. It sounded fun and upbeat, with a catchy hook in the chorus. I was inspired to write the vocals by imagining a person in a relationship who was at once intrigued, fearful and hopeful.

How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?

Biodome is upbeat and a bit pop-punk, with that post-punk core that’s present in all of our tracks.

Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?

The lyrics to Biodome are a bit cheeky and the vocals tell a story about someone struggling to maintain their ground in a burgeoning relationship.

How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?

This definitely leans on the pop-punk side compared to our other tracks, more in line with “Doubt”, another of our songs.

What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?

It was hard to lock down the drums for this track. We were actually in between drummers for a while but when we found Alexis, we were able to nail the sound down. He gives a lot of energy and vivacity to our music.

Why should a reader check out the track?

I would say this track would appeal to anybody who misses 90s alternative pop!

What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?

This one definitely got stuck in my head after every practice. It’s that chorus!
