Mirror, MIrror

‘She faced the world when she faced the mirror’.
My friends Copperworm have returned with a new take on one of their earlier songs, recorded live at The Matchbox Studios in their hometown, Warrington. Performing as a four piece with, Chris Parker on bass, you can hear the difference when responsibilities are delegated equally. Copperworm are Peter Wolfe – vocals, Jon Montgomerie – guitar and Nelson Correia on drums, completing a sturdy and unassailable force that has drive and determination even when faced with the most challenging of circumstances.
The single ‘Carved’ is a true story, harrowing and a shameful indictment on how we have become as human beings. Our search for physical perfection, impeccable looks and body shape is a pressure that many find too much to bear. Consequently, they self-harm to make themselves feel more acceptable in an increasingly damaged society.
Peter is the voice of reason and fairness, continually fighting the good fight, always open to new ideas, and critical of injustice when he sees it. Their music is unique; it is steeped in history, a modern equivalent of the vintage rock scene, accentuated by changes in technology and attitudes over the years.
The seething twang of frets, nails you to the floor, I would advise you stay there until the song has finished. The vocals, lovingly rubbed down with a Brillo pad are uninhibited and true to the style of music, conducive to an all round nourishing and enlightened experience.
A shining light amongst their peers, Copperworm set the tone and set the bar quite high, it takes some moxie to pull this caper off, my friends here do it beautifully, they are the embodiment of life itself, mobilising a fanbase who are assured and reliant on their spirit of adventure and accomplishment. We move forward, always, that’s what we learn, Copperworm style.
