Colour My Soul

My friends it’s time to explore the world of Techno, a robust and primeval look at music, full of repetitive beats and thundering rhythms that come at you like a slingshot, Pendulum are back with an EP, that is short but full of all the things we love about them. Always interesting, up for a bit of fusion, dreaming up the most catchy and funky tunes, and keeping a keen eye on the metal world too.
‘Anima’ gives us a rendition of ‘Halo’ featuring Matt Tuck of BFMV, and with the gentler tones from Rob Swire, their voices complement each other beautifully. In under three minutes, we see the powers at play, we see the harsh, screamo sitting prettily next to the hushed, mellow tones, always a great mix when it is done attentively.
Up next is ‘Colourfast’ with its utterly engrossing chant of ‘you feel like it yet? You feel like we do?’ over and over in your head, as the words become physical, and you cannot sit still. Intense yet delicate like a floating butterfly, colourful and animated.
At 1.04 on ‘Mercy Killing’ in wades Scarlxrd with powerful drum and bass beats that have a Sci- Fi, very space age feel, futuristic, yet focused on our modern society issues.
Over the finish line with ‘Silent Spinner’ the introduction an instant throwback to ‘Propane Nightmares’ and then more of the other-worldly, experimental electronica to keep us entertained, while we make our way home.
Be open to innovation, be open to creativity, be open to your surroundings and increase your awareness, come out swinging my friends, and be more like Pendulum.
