Aline Happ from Lyria releases music video from Vikings soundtrack

The song “My Mother Told Me” became an anthem of battle and courage in the hit series Vikings (2013-2020). Now, singer Aline Happ has released her own cover of the song, adding a touch of magic and mystery to it. The single features flutes, drums, cello and double bass, as well as atmospheric synthesizers and a choir. The result is a powerful rendition inspired by Celtic and Norse music.

“I’ve been singing this song for a while in my concerts, but I hadn’t recorded the version. People have always asked me for this song and I really like it. It brings a very strong and inspiring message about fighting, being a leader and a hero, so I finally recorded it!”, says Aline.

The phrase “My Mother Told Me” is the first line of a sea shanty sung by the character Harald in the fourth season of Vikings, in 2016. The song was repeated in different situations throughout the series and became a battle song. The song gained more popularity after the Polish group “Perły i Łotry” recorded a version with choir in 2019, which inspired many other covers on YouTube.
