Erika Grapes Unveils Official Music Video For ‘Blood’

Blood is the first proper single by Erika Grapes which has been crafted around her world and a concept that she has delivered to Universal Music producer and multi awarded composer of the Italian hit “Tre Parole” Pietro Foresti.

Starting from an idea by Grapes around the concepts of magma, the alchemic phase of rubedo and a series of poems and notes sketched by the artist around the themes of blood, romanticism, soul development and a tongue in cheek relationship with a vampire, ‘Blood’ is a slow, dense yet ear candy ballad setting itself away from the negative vibes semantically tied around the word “blood” itself.

Musically, written by Erika Grapes with the aid of producer Foresti and arranger Vincenzo Giacalone, Blood lingers around Western atmospheres of the Tarantino soundtrack type, with a touch of trip hop, finally added by the mix&mastering of Matteo Agosti, at Frequenze Studio, Monza – Italy.

THE VIDEO

When it comes to official videos, Grapes likes to collaborate with other performers and –  except for the video for Out of Depth feat Felix Subway which was released a month ago, inspired by distancy, fears and consolation during the pandemic  – she rarely chooses to take part in them.

It’s the case of the lo-fi, purple-neon tinted video of Blood, directed, performed and edited by the Australian dancer Charlize Kelly, who was able to put in her own grace and grunge inspired genius in a mix of elegance, carelessness and magic, all wrapped in cool and blurry DIY package.

“Charlize is such a talented artist and so in tune with this song, that she achieved to catch and present the “Twin Peaks meets Tarantino” music vibes of Blood with a perfect set and mood” – comments Grapes and continues – “Shadows, lights and movements accompany the music in a blurry, dreamlike magic reminding me last century’s German expressionism in cinema and all the 90s alternative aesthetic”.
