GRADE 2 return with a self-titled stunner.

‘GRADE 2’

(HELLCAT RECORDS)

8/10

Grade 2’s crossfire catchy belted-out Street Punk continues on their self-titled latest full-length release. The three-piece blast away with a Holiday In Cambodia riff, an organ shaking bass while the spat-out vocals stick the cherry on a minute-a-half cut. Before you can recover, a whopping three-minute ‘Fast Pace’ comes out of the corner swinging to an infectious Hives beat married with Grand Theft Auto soundtrack resonance, while ‘Under The Streetlight’ is a pure British take on Berkley Punk, and holy f*ck does it work, and some. ‘Doesn’t Matter Much Now’ and ‘Midnight Ferry’ flash by before a sing-a-long-ish ‘Brassic’ is catapulted into the air.

‘Gaslight’ is fifty-eight seconds of prime-time anger, while ‘Don’t Stand Alone’ has a mighty Sparrer vibrating chorus. The Musical punches continue to rain down as the pavement-pounding ‘Streetrat Skallywag’ is followed by the full-blooded ‘Parasite’ and a quickfire lanyard wearing ‘Doing Time’. The final trio of a love-punk ‘Celine’, the catch-up ‘See You Around’ and a boozy ‘Bottom Shelf’ round off this top-shelf release. People trust me, Grade 2 is one hell of a band.
