Our lives are now set on a path created out of the pandemic, with copious amounts of chaos and confusion for us to sift through. Here with a timely reminder are my friends Unknown Refuge and their newest, shiniest single ‘Drop A Gear’ and what a pleasure it is to listen to. Despite recent line-up changes these guys have pulled together to bring us hope, positivity, love and light, and by crikey are we in dire need of all those things. Enshrined in the modern rock idea and ethos, they capitalise on the familiar and lead us into the future. With a mean ‘n moody looking skeleton as the visual representation of a ballsy escape, flamework is included, these Bolton boys are ready for the next chapter in their story.
After a hugely encouraging start with their promising debut, they bring us heftier riffery, chunky and rich with the classic rock sound, faithful yet forging a way forward. The song chugs along, with the recognisable Rock ‘n Roll beat and slips effortlessly into a rousing chorus, get ready for some serious fist shaking, Lord knows we’ve missed it. A traditional biker anthem, full throttle, daring you to spin the bottle and seal your destiny.
