The queens of authentic outsider anthems are back – daring duo The SoapGirls are gearing up to release their fourth album In My Skin on June 18, 2022. The latest record follows hot on the heels of the vibrant lead single ‘Breathe.’
Consisting of French-born South-African raised siblings Noemie (Mie) and Camille (Mille) Debray, The SoapGirls are known for their wild energy live and androgynous musical style. In My Skin reaches new heights of raw rock excellence, seeing the pair outdo themselves again with their intoxicating grungy attitude that is sure to knock your socks off.
‘Wasted‘ dips into the husky depths of the duo’s vocals, the track showcasing the pair’s colourful range with a dynamic and exciting tempo switch to boot. ‘Medicated Bubble Bath‘ embodies pure punk spirit and delicious rebellion that is fearlessly fresh, whereas following track ‘Heart In Bloom‘ captures the girls’ airy and dreamier vocals which cleanse and revitalise – the flowery bud that shoots up after the rich dirt goodness of ‘Medicated Bubble Bath.’
‘Summer Rain‘ is contrastingly a more stripped back, moody and melancholy number – the poignant lyrics driving the song with its chilling beauty and captivating storytelling: “Feelings become numb faded like the sun / Winter on her lips blue veined fingertips / Under a moonless sky she’ll never tell you why / Cold and empty eyes the secret with her dies.”
‘Kill Breed‘ wraps up the album explosively. Sharp, unfiltered and in your face, sick guitar work melts together with distortion and scream vocals to form a track full of wrath and an overall sonically abrasive package that manages to stimulate the mind with its messages while you headbang along.
In My Skin is equal parts bewitching and fiercely electric – The SoapGirls have turned up the heat on this record, and the duo are sure to have you cranking up the volume and losing yourself among its audacious magic.
The Don’t Give a Damn Tour 2022 has so far conquered: the UK, Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Italy. The tour returns to the UK in late June, before heading off to the USA and Japan later this year – tickets available here.
