Alt-Pop Duo God From The Machine release ‘Given Up’

God from the Machine started as a writing outlet for Joe and Sam, who were previously in other bands which both naturally and quickly became their main focus. They have spent the last few years writing, recording and producing their own material that would become God From The Machine. The project has allowed them to step into new and exciting roles which were unexplored within previous musical outfits. The band are releasing a number of tracks this year and fans are eagerly anticipating their return to live music.

Their upcoming track, “Given Up” is one that was written in the early stages of their musical project, and because of that it’s undergone a number of changes and has been re-written several times. This allowed room for not only musical growth but for the options of exploration within different styles, textures and ideas before finally settling on what you’re hearing today.

“We decided to take a more conceptual approach to the music video on this one” says Sam, the guitarist and co-composer. The video has a strong feeling throughout and leans on the symbolic nature of the lyrics, presenting them with a narrative that can be taken multiple ways by the viewer. “I became the hopeless dreamer given nothing but time” is a key line in this track and is a strong part of the videos concept.

The attachment of a B side on this release is the first of many offerings from the duo, and presents another dimension to listening. This gives new life to a song that may have otherwise gone unreleased, and we’re very glad it made the cut. We look forward to seeing this format of release from the band in future, and would love for you to join their journey at such an early stage.
