Anarbor release danceable delight ‘Drugs’

Alternative-rock band Anarbor released their groovy, feel-good single ‘Drugs‘ on February 11th. Composed of lead vocalist and bassist Slade Echeverria and guitarist Danny Stravers, ‘Drugs‘ sees the Phoenix-based duo deviate from their usual pop-punk/pop-rock style, leaning into an indie-pop sound on the latest single.

Accompanying the single is an appropriately trippy music video, a visual feast of popping colours and VHS static fuzz. Jam-packed with catchy riffs and an infectious hook, this track stimulates the senses entirely. ‘Drugs‘ is an immediate earworm with lyrics that are sure to loop around the listener’s mind, but still contain layers of kaleidoscopic complexity. Some stand-out lyrics include: “I can feel all the sounds that you hear, I can taste all the words that you say when you’re looking at me,” nodding towards a kind of synaesthesia.

In 2020 Anarbor signed to OneRPM, also releasing the Tangerine EP, and the members are currently gearing up to release their fourth full-length studio album in 2022.

The meta nature of ‘Drugs‘ is something that certainly cannot be ignored, for this sugary dose of addictiveness is already calling us back for more. One can hope the repeat button doesn’t OD.

‘Drugs’ is available to stream now on all major platforms.
