You need a head full of heart, swinging bulls bollocks and an unnerving Marlboro Red sucked larynx to take on the covering of Motorhead challenge. The four blistering tunes on this E.P evoke memories of the great man, the Rainbow warrior himself Lemmy, plus his gang of leather coated speed fiends and all-around Rock ‘n’ Roll reprobates that made up Motorhead. Opener and ‘Motorhead’ single B-side band namer ‘City Kids’ is rolled down the alley and kicked into the neon spattered Soho street with JJ Watt’s nicotine rasp handling front ‘n’ centre duties. ‘Bomber’ is possibly one of the finest ‘Head songs of all time and The City Kids attack it with gusto, respectful pomp and Dennis Post’s smoky vocals are a perfect (day) fit. ‘Please Don’t Touch’ remains a dirty dog cut with a filthy shit-eating grin and Nashville Pussy’s Ruyter Suys takes on Kim’s Girlschool part with such ease it’s almost like she was born for it. Finally a mainstream ‘Born Raise To Hell’ is slashed at the throat, tarred, feathered and volleyed back to life with Eddie Spaghetti popping up along with Frank Meyer and Dennis ‘Warrior Soul’ Post all sharing vox. The four cuts within this E.P are all lovingly recreated, vibrant and all remain timelessly brutal foot stompers. Motorhead will always be the band that other bands wished they could be and there’s f*ck all wrong with that especially when it rattles the spinal cord like ‘City Kids’ does.
