EP Review: Y!kes – Lostalgia

Land Of The Even More Lost.

So, following a series of detonations in single form, my friends Y!kes have now offered up the entire seven song EP for your delectation, and my what a delectable outing it is. If you are still not aboard this freight train out of here then get a bloody wiggle on, where have you been? Seriously infectious, groovy and grungy, with shades of The Offspring and Bush, these guys have a story to tell. The singles ‘Just Me’, ‘General Practice’, ‘Jukebox Martyr’ and ‘Long Gone Silver’ have been reviewed here which leaves three tunes to slice my way through, ‘I’m Not Joking’ is under starters orders and sets the scene for our trip through the great city of ‘Lostalgia’. With a sweeping power ballad style riff at 1.38 expect to get carried away on this.  Call in at the doctors and pop those pills to distort your world even further, peek through the blur and haze, while away the days, to the sound of the lost folk. With ‘Can You Fear It’ you get the Alkaline Trio style intro and crunchy, gravelly punk vibe, y’know it’s so great to see bands I love having a positive influence on the future of Rock music. The raucous, crash- landing finish comes courtesy of ‘HDMI’ and it is very raw, tear your flesh from your bones in it’s delivery.  A flavourful, burst of energy and vitality, so my friends, let’s get lost with Y!kes!

Y!kes – Lostalgia out now.
