Now, we don’t know about you, but here at Original Rock it’s Pride all year round. That’s why we’re still yelling from the rooftops about the latest single from LGBTQ+ activist and musician, Piera van de Wiel, ‘Love Is Meant For You’.
A colourful, light-hearted tune encapsulating that first rush of adrenaline when confessing your crush, we weren’t expecting the video for ‘Love Is Meant For You’ to be anything other than saccharine sweet and very, very gay. And guess what? We were not disappointed.
Frolicking around a beach on a picturesque island is Piera herself, alternately playing in the sand and strolling hand in hand with her lover. It’s suitably romantic and laidback for a song of this sort, one which is proud in a celebratory way.
Piera is loud, quirky, and LGBTQ+ proud, with heart-on-sleeve storytelling and crystalline vocal work. Her lyrics whimsically portray the realness of coming to terms with her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
In her own words, she wanted this song to “ooze love, joy and PRIDE! Anyone can love and be loved. As a proud member of the gorgeous LGBTQ+ community I’m so happy to share this track and most importantly give out love to you all. I believe it’s so important to reveal your true self and your true feelings to the one you like most. I know it’s freakin’ scary, but I believe it’s a risk worth taking!”
