Single Review: Y!kes – Jukebox Martyr

Uprawrious!

Launching themselves into the fray with their third single of the year the Y!kes rock ‘n roll train trundles along merrily and encourages us to make haste to greet the ‘Jukebox Martyr’ a lean, mean, vibrant team of upstarts that harbour an aesthetic ingenuity and ooze copious amounts of punk and grunge fun. I am privileged to be able to have worked with them before and chart their progress. Our fresh-faced Brum heroes offer more guitar licks, and party tricks to keep us minions entertained, with a colourful and chaotic video to boot, it makes for addictive watching and listening. As we continue to smoulder amongst the ashes of lockdown, with some sort of normality teasing us, this is the time to strike while the iron is hot. Our friends here know their worth, they are capitalising on the fan base they have attracted and are here for the long run. They are the proud owners of a small but substantial artillery that fires legitimate and well-written tunes to slice, dice and entice.

So unplug the old jukebox tunes and do yourself a favour, Y!kes are the new taste you need to savour!
