Album Review: Shades Of Gray – Turn It Up Louder

Loud and Proud.

Hello my friends, today I have a sweet little ditty from someone whose career spans an eye-watering 30 years in the music business. Myke Gray was strutting his funky stuff with Jagged Edge and then with Skin, but as with all things life goes around and now we find him with a new project Shades Of Gray (stop sniggering at the back!) and new single ‘Turn It Up Louder’, which as the title suggests, tells us to enjoy this track at its optimum temperature and amplification.

It has all the ingredients of the classic 80’s -90’s arena rock, driving riffs, chugging bass lines and of course the much needed shout it out chorus. A song of hope, strength and unity,   it gives us a well-earned break from reality, this is a little luxury amidst all the craziness. I’m sure many will say ‘it’s been done before’ yes it has but this is much fresher and breezier and fits quite nicely in the current scene. With clean, clear vocals, taking away the need to go hunting for lyrics means you can join in straight away and dance like a mad thing.

Grab hold of you instruments, air or otherwise and lets descend into some communal headbanging. This is a song for the summer, uplifting and joyous; you’ll be daft to leave it in the shade.
