Interview: Simple Radicals

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

We just released a hypnotizing Marilyn Manson-esque re-imagination of Jefferson Airplane’s iconic song “White Rabbit” ( https://open.spotify.com/album/3BOTEZjZQ2cu1mO3r4IsRL). We collaborated with this incredible husband/wife duo Che-Val on the track.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

The song was mixed by legendary producer Earl Cohen who has worked with Lady Gaga, Pink, Tina Turner to name a few.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Eddie Vedder is my musical hero. I’m mesmerized with his writing and try to capture the messaging, passion and energy that he does in his songs. If I can even come within a million miles of that I’d consider it a success.

How has your latest release been received?

Incredible. We had a ton of pre-saves and the song has been added to numerous playlists. And we’re also receiving some amazing press.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

As we all know the song is based off of Alice in Wonderland and an acid trip. Our collective goal was to create a real moody feeling and cinematic vibe. I think we accomplished that.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

We had a kick-ass 2020 planned including two showcases at SXSW in Austin, Texas, playing festivals with Molly Hatchet, Jefferson Starship, Puddle of Mudd, and Blackfoot as well as a tour starting in Chicago. But all got axed due to Covid. But we’re on the docket to play those in 2021 if the apocalypse ends in time.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Honestly we’re just stoked to play live again. We greatly miss the vibe of feeding off the energy of the crowd. We’re really excited to start our tour in our hometown of Chicago in front of our fans, friends and family who have supported us and get back to the music fests. Hoping the apocalypse ends so we can get out there soon.

What else can we expect from in 2021?

We continue to push our album, “New Revolution” (https://open.spotify.com/album/4rgBmqnv7h3p5gYPGjiXfU) which has the guitar-God Vernon Reid from the band Living Colour playing lead on the track “Medicate”. We have a podcast called “Music & A Brew” where we crack open a cold one with musical artists. We’ve done shows with world-class drummers Kenny Aronoff (Mellencamp, Fogerty, McCartney)  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1np3s_EoBA&t=2110s) and Todd Sucherman, the drummer for the band Styx (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaZ1m0Yh0A0).
