Yur Mum “Black Rainbow” single released 18 January 2021

What two words are genuinely going to inspire a smack in the teeth? “Yur Mum” would probably be up there, and musically, you can be guaranteed of the same sonic response when following a link that contains those words!

Regular readers will be familiar with my practice of researching and listening to an artist to see how they have grown since their debut outing. Yur Mum, however, have gone from a 3-piece down to just bass (Anilise Kunz) and drums (Fabio Couto) following the departure of guitarist Zakos Gado after the release of their killer “Ellipsis EP” at the end of 2019.

From this news alone one can expect a White StripesBlack Keys, or 68-styled attack on the new material, and you would be right, from a certain point of view. There’s an added ferocity that Anilise puts into this performance, and you can’t help but thrust your head back and forth in solidarity with her. Maybe it’s the sub-chill setting for the video?

The band’s Black Rainbow single premiered live at 09:00GMT 18 January 2021 on YouTube and their new album “Tropical Fuzz” is coming soon. In light of this single alone, and the guys’ tenacity to keep going in the new format, is worthy enough of your support.
