Single Review: Antiqva – Funeral Crown

It’s Your Funeral

My friends, they say all good things come to those who wait, and if you have been following the antics of our dark and dreamy prince and princess of doom aka Xenoyr and Lindsay Schoolcraft, you will know they had this idea brewing since 2015, now it has been gently placed into the public domain for your pleasure.

This exciting debut showcases a glowing list of musicians led by our most fiendish friends; Fabian Schaper – guitars, Justine Ethier – drums, Dalai Cellai- cello, Memnock- bass and contrabass and Andy Thomas with his clean and pure vocal input along with additional guitars.

Gliding from low pitch to high, tempting other worldly vocalisations, steeped in mystery and intrigue with Romanian lyrics, they’ve approached this from every angle and created something fluid, adventurous and sustainable.

Although the production is theatrical and dramatic, the feel is intimate and immersive.   A sombre and sobering end to a dysfunctional and chaotic year from which I for one can relate to the closing lyrics here,

‘alone in silence, alone we are free’

A full length album is anticipated in 2021, until then wear this crown with a funereal pride.

Antiqva – Funeral Crown, single out now via Cyber Proxy Records.
