Aline Happ, of Lyria, sings Christmas classic song in new video

One of the most popular Christmas songs, Happy Xmas (War is Over), gets a classical crossover version by Aline Happ. The song, originally composed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, calls for a self-reflection and also brings a positive message for a better future. In the singer’s version, her vocals and her vocal range are the highlights, with a medium low register going to a very bright operatic voice.

Happ’s rendition of “Happy Xmas (War is Over)”, which is best known for its opening phrase “So this is Christmas”, was produced by herself during a 36 hour period: vocals, instrumental parts, mix, master and video. The video brings happy images and Aline Happ singing, all in warm tones. According to Aline Happ, the idea is “to bring warmth to our hearts with a positive message for the holiday season”.

Also a protest song against the Vietnam War, “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” turns 50 in 2021. The lyrics talk about unity in society and peaceful changes, through empowerment and recognition of individual responsibilities. Besides Aline Happ, this song was already recorded by Sarah Brightman, Celine Dion and even Miley Cyrus.

The videos posted on Aline Happ’s channel are sponsored by her fans on Patreon.
