Ziggy Alberts’ grassroots folk is honest and humble from the ground up

We’ve already talked about Ziggy Alberts and his fantastic single, ‘heartbeat’, on Original Rock. We’re about to gush about him all over again, though, because he’s certainly up there on our list of artists to watch in 2021.

For one, he’s got an album on the way in March. Titled, ‘searching for freedom’, it promises to be full of the kind of raw, honest and heartfelt folk music that we’re used to from the superstar from Down Under.

Ziggy has been awarded ARIA Platinum certification for his tracks Gone, Runaway, Heaven, Love Me Now, Laps Around The Sun, Stronger and Four Feet in the Forest (EP) plus, Gold certifications for three tracks in his catalogue.

‘Heartbeat’, the aforementioned single, shows Alberts to be at the front of the new class of songwriter, crafting exquisite melodies and pairing with honest lyrics; overall, his music has a timeless, sunsoaked feel. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the tugs-at-your-heartstrings music video for ‘heartbeat’, a multi-generational yarn which shows love to be at the centre of all we hold dear. It’s a warming watch, and one which may help us to remember what we should be prioritising during an abnormal year – love must always come first.
