Leeds based three-piece indie/psych band The Calls released their latest EP ‘Fall Inside Again’ on 20th November via Atomic Records!
The EP begins with ‘Fall Inside’ which radiates a retro indie vibe. The vocals are laid-back and effortless, and executed with an arrogance often found in this genre. This is the kind of song that you can imagine playing on a nice summers day while sat outside with your friends, it’s light and airy yet packs a punch! The same sort of sound is continued in to ‘Tell Me Why’ which hooks you in immediately with its striking bassline.
‘I Just Thought I’d Say’ is quite a rustic, acoustic song and takes you back to basics. This makes it a really atmospheric listen and is a nice chilled mid-point for the EP. Following this is The Calls’ latest single ‘I Should’ve Known’. This song features a medley of different sounds, sending the remainder of the EP down a slightly different path, before ending on the more psychedelic ‘A Change Is Gonna Come Around Here.’
‘Fall Inside Again’ opens your eyes to the capabilities of The Calls and gives you a great insight into the dynamic spectrum of their sound.
