Charlotte Jane shares new single ‘Get It Right’

Charlotte Jane’s debut EP ‘Nowhere To Hide’ established her as one of the UK’s brightest new voices. Quietly amassing millions of streams, it set her on the path to sell-out headline shows in London and hometown Hull, performing at Reading and Leeds and with the likes of Jess Glynne, Dennis Lloyd, Tom Odell and Lewis Capaldi, who believes Charlotte Jane is shaping up to be “one of the biggest fucking things in the world.” Her brand new single ‘Get It Right’ lives up to such high praise!

‘Get It Right’ immediately dictates the tone for Charlotte Jane’s sparsely opulent new sound. It’s a case of less being undoubtedly more, opening up the space for her stupendously soulful voice to explore love and life in real time. It was written in response to the frustration of realising that she’d been messed around by a love interest for over a year.

“Get it Right is the anthem for the lightbulb moment when you realise your own self-worth and stop letting people string you along. It sounds sad but it’s actually empowering”, explains Charlotte Jane.

The next morning, she met leading songwriters Dayyon Alexander (Ella Mai, Demi Lovato) and Jeff Shum (John Legend, Camila Cabello) and channelled all of those emotions into the song, before recording it during the first wave of lockdown.

‘Get It Right’ demonstrates the 22-year-old singer-songwriter’s world class potential, and it feels as if her whole life has been leading up to this moment. Music has accompanied her every step inspired by all the soul greats – Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding. Her earliest memory is seeing her grandparents (a touring soul duo) perform and it wasn’t long before Charlotte Jane was joining them on stage around UK and Europe.

By her mid-teens, Charlotte Jane knew that music was her passion, but didn’t really know how to make it happen as a career. Open mic nights in Hull upscaled to gigging around the north-east and after finishing school, she travelled Europe and returned home to write songs that changed the course of her lifeAfter one with meeting with global hitmaker Toby Gad (Beyoncé, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Fergie), Charlotte Jane was offered a publishing deal.

Charlotte Jane is now embarking upon the next chapter of her journey. Following  on from her tracks ‘Nervous’,  ‘All My Life’, and her debut ‘I Tell Lies’, the new songs pulsate with a growing confidence, delving into issues of self-acceptance, insecurities and blunt truths. Expect to hear much more from her in the near future.
