Midgar sign to Year of the Rat Records and announce new album!

After 8 years of pursuing a diverse career in the music industry, Andy Wilson – Taylor is once again at the helm of the cinematic rock band Midgar. A composer for TV and film by day, and session vocalist and songwriter by night, Wilson – Taylor has re-kindled his love with larger-than-life, symphonic rock music by creating a long-awaited new album, which pushes the boundaries of Midgar’s signature sound; classical piano and strings colliding head on with epic, modern rock. The new album – ‘Unity’ – was written, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Wilson – Taylor at his own studio – Sector Seven Studios – during lockdown in 2020.
Midgar become the third band to join Year Of The Rat Records since the companies inception in July 2020. They join Lastelle and The Young Hearts on the labels roster. Midgar will release their upcoming album ‘Unity’ in 2021 and will start the cycle with new single ‘We Don’t Make The Rules’ which will be released on the 18th December 2020.
Speaking about joining Year Of The Rat Records Andy Wilson – Taylor says – “I am thrilled to be able to finally announce that Midgar has signed a deal with Year of the Rat Records, and together we will be releasing the full-length album ‘Unity’ in 2021. Midgar has always been about the music; creating ambitious, larger than life songs that don’t necessarily fit into conventional boxes. It’s so important to me that anyone involved with Midgar shares that same vision, and I’m happy to say that it’s YOTR’s passion for the music – over anything else – that’s brought us together. I’m really excited for what the future holds for Midgar and I can’t wait for the world to hear ‘Unity’ when it comes out.”
On working with Midgar, owner of Year Of The Rat Records James Illsley says – “I have been a huge fan of Midgar ever since their debut album ‘Lead Your Children To The Sky’ was released in 2010. The idea of eventually working with a band like Midgar was one of the main reasons I started working in the music industry back in 2011. This album is absolutely huge, and an incredibly personal and sonically beautiful body of work. ‘Unity’ is a gamechanger and showcases Midgar at their very best, and I am delighted to be involved in championing this release.”
