It has been four decades since Ozzy Osbourne released the song Mr. Crowley. One of the metal anthems, the song today gains a version that unites Celtic and Folk vibes in the voice of Aline Happ, vocalist of Lyria. The lyrics talk about a celebrated occultist, Aleister Crowley, founder of Thelema, and member of the Golden Dawn. Crowley’s studies have already influenced the pop culture as Alan Moore, The Beatles, Paulo Coelho, among others.
Inspired by Halloween, Aline Happ released Mr.Crowley’s folk rendition on October 31st. The version gives new life to the famous guitar solo of the song, considered one of the 100 best in the world by the Guitar World magazine.
“I wanted to bring something different, full of meaning, for Halloween. Crowley’s studies didn’t influence me directly, but I like to know about different subjects, because everything contributes to our ideas.”, analyzes Aline.
The video is once again made entirely by Aline Happ, from conception to completion. The artist creates the instrumentals, records, mixes, masters, and even records and edits the videos posted on the channel, with the support of fans on Patreon. Known worldwide, Lyria is considered one of the greatest names of the Brazilian Symphonic metal. The band was founded in 2012 by Aline Happ. Since then, the group has released two albums with crowdfunding support, Catharsis (2014) and Immersion (2018) and played in several Brazilian cities, among others.
The quarantine forced artists from around the world to reinvent themselves and look for new ways to promote their work. For Aline Happ, lead singer of the symphonic metal band, Lyria, it was the incentive to start a project that had been postponed for a long time: having her own YouTube channel. The initiative that aims to get closer to the fans, shows an unknown side of the metal singer, and now will also become a solo album via crowdfunding.
