What drew you to the music industry?
I remember my parents listening to music on the radio and playing records when I was younger.  My dad even had an acoustic guitar that he would play on from time to time.  But I wasn’t interested in creating music until I was in my teens and listening to electronic music.  It was the noises created by electronics that inspired me.  I mean, some of my early favorite bands were rock bands like Kiss and Iron Maiden but I hadn’t yet owned a guitar (although that did come later).

Who are you inspired by?
Some of my major infulences are bands like Depeche Mode, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Front 242, KMFDM

Please explain your creative process
This usually involves me sitting in front of my equipment and I’ll start playing with sounds and melodies.  That eventually becomes a song.

What’s an average day like for you?
The new normal is I work my day job and after that, I am either working on music projects or watching something on TV.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
I do try to write lyrics that can have multiple meanings for listeners, but at the core, there usually is a meaning. But rather than give you mine, I think the music has more value to the listener if it means something to them.

Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?

I do collaborate often.  Sometimes it’s music, sometimes it’s vocals.  Usually someone has a track start and that gets shared back and forth until it’s finished. But it’s an organic process so it’s not always the same every time.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans

Social Media is the scourge of humanity but it is also important as open communication to your fans.  I try to respond as much as possible on twitter, but fail frequently on facebook.

What is your favourite part about this line of work? Your least favourite? Why?
This kind of work is fulfilling in many ways, but the financial ROI is low.  But having a day job eliminates that need.  I love working with my inner circle of creative friends.  Sometimes you have drama and that’s probably my least favorite thing.

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?  not a cheeky question

hahaaButterflies before a performance is something that I’ve experienced but you kinda get out there and run with it.  I’m usually a ham on the mic if I’m not singing.

Tell me what you miss about  performing live

It’s a great feeling.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Practice often and hone your craft.  Never give up.  Never let anyone steal your dream.
