Primitive Ignorant shares new single ‘Beautiful Scum’ featuring Daisy Coburn

Beautiful Scum from Sikh Punk’s Primitive Ignorant is a change of face. Yes it still kicks hard with that ever-present bass but this is laid back and not unsultry TLC groove.

Part Billie Holiday, part Fiona Apple, Daisy Coburn purrs a tale of debauchery and loss set in a country that’s losing more than it ever had. A celebration of the life and art we need to hold on tightly to.

Says Sym…  When I was 16 I used to go knocking on Brett Anderson’s door with my friend Adam, asking if he wanted to come out and play. Adam died not long after and the song is a tribute to his life.

He introduced me to so much music, art and film. It’s my sequel to Brett’s Beautiful Ones. A debauched fairytale of life in Ladbroke Grove as teenager searching for identity through football, music and clothes. A young boy enticed by the beauty and magic of music who smashed the life out of the dream. It’s about renaissance and rebirth, the realm of the infinite and the invincible, the beauty of life and the eternal life of ideas.

The video was shot in an unknown forest with the shadows of the past and the future by Steve Gullick, summoning the voodoo and the creatures of the dark. Blair Witch and Twin Peaks. Things moved, spirits seen, explosions in the night sky and every lived experience.
