A Little Look..country-pop singer-songwriter Larry Jay

Its been said that country-pop singer-songwriter Larry Jay’s songs are
“Five chords and the truth.” The New York native, now residing in
California, injects that truth with hopeful lyrics and tasty melodies,
to create his own brand of Award-winning Americana-tinged southern fried
music.

What first got you into music?

I was 7 years old when my cousin came by and strummed her guitar—I was
vibrating with the strings-I got
instantly hooked on music and the guitar

  3.How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Country pop with a rock and rol edge

    What is your creative process like?

When I come across an idea/title that I like-
I start developing melodies and lyrics—it’s
a process of running what I’ve come up with by other writers
and making changes and improvements until I have
a fully developed song—I do a lot of rewriting
and then I develop a catchy production

What is one message you would give to your fans?
Take your heartaches and mistakes-and through em into the wind

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I usually take baths—and I write lyrics in my head

.What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music
career?

I would be playing music for fun

 Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least
favourite
venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

I perform at bars – coffee houses-outdoor festivals-
I enjoy playing-so I never really had a bad show–
I’m mostly livestreaming during the pandemic with an
occasional outdoor street performance

  How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It has completely changed how people listen to music with streamimg

What is your favourite song to perform?

My newest song—”ride the wind”

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

I got arrested for public intoxication-

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Don’t take yourself too seriously

I’d like to see large radio stations play more songs from emerging
artists

I try to conserve as much as possible—my wife and I share our bath
