UK based melodic hardcore band Immerse have just released their latest single ‘Red Shade’, accompanied by a chilling new music video!
Immerse have been working harder than ever to stay motivated and release new material during the pandemic, we had a chat to them about this process, the impact of Covid-19 and the release of their latest song!
‘Red Shade’ is one of the most passionate tracks we’ve heard from Immerse and it showcases a much darker, heavier side to their material. The music video is intense to say the least! The low lit, deep red lighting gives it an unsettling atmosphere, one that makes the somewhat distressing scenes even more disturbing…
When asked about the inspiration behind this track they said: “Red Shade is about how in life people have become so consumed with themselves that they forget to look out for other people, and how they’d rather be selfish and make their own lives happy than show basic human decency.
“The video shows a man being consumed by his own sanity, the man is frantically and aggressively working on the canvas. This is supposed to show how life can control you and turn you into something negative by not allowing you 5 minutes to breathe.
“The man is supposed to be someone who has been subjected and consumed by life’s troubles and has become consumed by the negative Impacts of this.”
The past few months have been stressful to say the least for the majority if people working within the music industry. With live performances on hold, musicians, production staff, venues and all the other people behind the scenes are finding it increasingly more difficult to manage the situation.
Creating this new material acts as a much needed outlet for both the artists and their fans. Despite inevitably having concerns about how the music might be received, Immerse have experienced phenomenal responses in relation to their previously released tracks ‘Here’s Hoping’ and ‘Southbound’, one that will hopefully continue to blossom!
They said: “The response so far has been more than we could ever dream of, we’ve had the backing of old and new fans with the direction we have gone and also a lot of backing from magazines and music media outlets far and wide!
“It’s had incredible radio play also. We honestly didn’t expect it to go as far as it has but its heart-warming for us to see the amount of love people have shown us.”
Many musicians have had to alter their typical writing and creating processes to fit with the coronavirus guidelines and new precautions that have to be taken. Understandably, this has made the process more difficult for a lot of people but Immerse were already ahead of the game!
When discussing their creation process they said: “Honestly for us it hasn’t changed much from the pre-production side. We also demo at home and we all have our own set up for being able to demo our parts, so our normal way of doing things is to send it around between us and work on it at our own homes! So from that point of it, it’s been almost identical.”
As this year begins to draw to a close we are all left dreaming and hoping of what 2021 might bring. With live performances for the most part on hold until next year, I think I can speak for a large number pf people in saying 2021 can’t come fast enough!
When we asked Immerse what they’re most looking forward to once we return to some form of normality their response was hardly a surprise! They said: “Playing shows, all day! That’s the whole point of being in a band.
“Writing music and playing it live in front of a packed crowd is literally what keeps you going as a musician. Its where all the passion starts and ends, its torture for us not being able to tour, see our fans and just generally play the music we love in front of new and old fans!”
