Prismatics “Endlessly” single released 16 October 2020

Four-piece new-wave revivalists Prismatics began the writing process for the follow-up to their Casio-driven smile-of-recognition-inspiring “New Emotion” debut EP from 2018 when the pandemic hit. So like most music artists, they had to make do with self-described Frankensteinian recording set-ups to continue the process from their individual homes. Now Brooke Austen (keyboards/vocals), Josh Clark (guitars/vocals), Jo Bossi (bass/vocals), and Ben Stenberg (drums) have their “Outside Looking” EP in the can and scheduled for release on 15 January 2021, “Endlessly” is the first single from that second EP.

The press promises, and the band delivers, EchoSiouxsie-inspired clean-guitar and punchy/poppy bass tracks with reverb-effected vocals. I even took some New Order / Joy Division / XL CaprisOutline / Cozmetyx / The Church Icehouse away from my initial listening of this offering. Even the video harkened back to late-night-TV premiers of home-made promotional film-clips by late 70s/early 80s independent electro-guitar music artists.

Endlessly” is progress and growth from “New Emotion” and an incredible achievement given the trying conditions under which it was produced. I can only imagine what the rest of the record comprises!”
