Single Review: Bears In Trees – It Gets Better

Although you may not be aware of Ukulele Pop, it is the kind of wholesome, serotonin-boosting music that many of us need give a listen.

Luckily for us, Bears in Trees are here to provide just that, releasing their latest feelgood single ‘It Gets Better’ this Friday 4th September.

It is a mood booster in the purest form, letting the simplicity of harmonies, percussion and a ukulele lift your spirits in exactly 3 minutes and 25 seconds.

Although the actual nature of the single is slightly more delicate, it focuses on the road to recovering from suicidal thoughts/feelings and supporting and fighting for when things will ‘Get better’.

Guitarist Nicholas Peters said: “I wrote It Gets Better after one of my closest friends tried to take his own life. I drove with someone else to see him in hospital, and beforehand we stopped at a Sainsbury’s to get him some snacks. Someone we loved dearly was in a hospital bed and we were fretting over trying to find him some vegan cookies.

“He’s okay now, and I’m okay, and everyone seems okay. I wrote this song for him, and for myself, and for everyone around me as a way to remind us that it’s going to get better. It just comes in small doses”.

‘It Gets Better’ is so full of support and positivity that it fills a room in seconds. The heartfelt sincerity similarly makes it impossible not to smile along as your serotonin picks up along with each wholesome lyric and thought.

I’m pretty sure it is impossible to keep a straight face listening along to this single as your serotonin skyrockets through the roof. The purity of the genuine support and joy that pours through the speakers is honestly so wholesome that you won’t be able to get it out of your head.

Make sure you give the new single a listen this Friday 4th September!
