Single Review: Y!KES – Pirouette

Circle Jerks!

Hello friends and as we enter into a new normal phased way of life it’s time to jump on board the rocket ship manned by those rocking ruffians Y!kes and be spirited away from this mayhem. A sprightly and colourful outing is in store as the lads don some iconic punk attire and swagger and sway into space, cocooned inside a foil proof  capsule. There are high jinks a-plenty, set to low slung, slinky frets and throbbing drums. The line-up  is straight outta the Midlands, where many artists call home and I will name and shame this band of young guns. The crispy, charred vocals belong to Oli Long, guitar, bass and drum duties are with Liam Howard, Matt Ford and T J Weston, respectively. The overall feel is reminiscent of Bush, a little grunge, and a healthy dollop of the old rebel yell, it’s a sound I have missed. With nitty gritty lyrics to match the wild and unkempt feel, a little bluster to clear the clogged arteries and there it is my friends.

Do not adjust your rear-view, it looks good from here.

Y!KES – Pirouette out on 14th August via self-release.
