EP Review: Dead Horse – Dead Horse I

Down and dirty garage/punk trio Dead Horse are releasing their debut EP ‘Dead Horse I’ on 10th July! The EP takes a debauched, tongue in cheek journey through over indulgence, relationships, death, sex, and lust. Having already gained traction with their debut single ‘Flesh Mountain’, this is an exciting year for Dead Horse.

The EP dives straight in with ‘Night’ an energetic intro with attacking, raspy vocals, similar to those heard in ‘Headstone’. It gets your adrenaline going right away. Following this is ‘Secrets’. The energy continues with striking riffs and edgy vocals really drawing on their garage sound.

‘Feral Woman’ offers an unexpected change in sound. The slightly distorted intro evolves in to a funky, old-school track with a catchy retro beat. You can’t help but want to have a little dance to it!

The EP comes to an intense close with ‘Creeper’. The distortion and rumbling drums give the extended intro quite an eerie feel, adding to the already diverse range of sounds heard on the EP. The harshness of the vocals adds to this extreme sound making it an incredibly memorable track to end on.
