The truly great independent and alternative magazine VIVE LE ROCK has announced it’s 2020 award ceremony to coincide with the magazine’s own 10th anniversary. This now staple in the Rock ‘N’ Roll calendar will take place at the prestigious Shepherds Bush Empire on April 1st. Early performance confirmations include Brian James’s Lords Of The New Church who will reform for a special one-off show. The band will have Rock legend Michael Monroe on lead vocals joining Dave Treganna, Terry Chimes, Mark Taylor and Brian James. Ed Tenpole Tudor will be compering the event again and will also be joining the Vive Le Rockers house band for a live run-through. Original Rude Boy and founding member of The Specials Neville Staple will also be playing a skank-inducing live set while DJ Matt Stocks will be spinning the tunes for dusk till dawn. The final and top-secret headliner will be unveiled closer to the event date and it promises to be a biggie. Previous headliners have included Punk royalty The Damned and The Stranglers so keep a beady eye on the VLR website and social media for clues and updates. Voting has already begun on two categories, Best live band and best Newcomer. Previous award winners of the best live band have included the imperious Stiff Little Fingers and Cock Sparrer.
The star-studded event attracts bands and artists from all over the musical map. Past years has seen a diverse mix of live performances including Shakin’ Stevens, Suzi Q, Ginger Wildheart, The Damned, The Stranglers, The Professionals, The Rich Kids, Glenn Matlock, Buzzcock Steve Diggle and Penetration. Tickets are on sale now with a very limited amount of V.I.P tickets available. V.I.P tickets include early entry, an annual, event T-shirt, private balcony access and the much sought after wristband for the legendary after-show party.
