Interview: Triple Addiction talk latest single

Triple Addiction is a rock group from central New Jersey who blends a unique sound of classic rock, southern rock, and country into one new but familiar style of music. The group consists of triplet brothers, Chris Loree (Lead vox/Guitar), Jon Loree (Drums/vox), and Brandon Loree (Bass/vox) as well as their best friend Dominic Zamora (Guitar/vox).

The brothers started playing together when they were 12. With each family member picking a different instrument, the brothers instantly took to playing cover tunes, and writing originals. Starting with cover band gigs at local bars and fairs, Triple Addiction eventually worked their way up to playing original gigs at local venues such as the Quik Chek Balloon Festival, The Stone Pony, The Stanhope House, and many more. In January 2016 the band released their first, self-titled EP which received good feedback from fans and critics alike. Since 2016 the band’s sound has changed, and with lineup changes and life changes, the band has gone in a slightly different direction from their older music.

Triple Addiction combines catchy guitar riffs, vocal harmonies, and real down-to-earth lyrics to reach their audience. Their message is to spread positivity, fun, and good vibes to a world so saturated with negativity and anger. Their lyrics are real, their live show is full of fun and high energy, and they are looking to break into the rock and country market.

Earlier this month the band released single Hard To Say Goodbye, taken from their upcoming LP “American Heartbreak”, which you can check out below in a new video!

We caught up with Triple Addiction as they talked about their latest single and more!

So how has the release of Hard To Say Goodbye gone down initially?

We wanted to pick a song off the record that was displaying the album as a whole. The song was our first ballad we ever wrote so lyrically it is very different, but musically it’s very much like our old self. The song was very meaningful to us and we figured a lot of people could relate to it!

What was your favourite moment making the single?

Mixing the song as a whole was a really cool process. We went back and re-recorded parts to get it as perfect as we could possibly make it. After all if the trials and recording we went through, it was great to finally hear it all back as a whole. That was definitely our favorite moment by far

Are you looking forward to the release of the video?

Yeah! We are so excited to finally put our first music video out there! John Thompson filmed the project and he completely nailed it! Also, Lucy Bobbin as an actress was an amazing fit for the story we wanted to portray. What’s cool is this music video will be a small piece of a much bigger story that’s going to play out in this record. We really hope people appreciate the video! It’s definitely a big deal to us.

Can you tell us something about the single no one else knows?

Great question. We wrote a lot of songs over the years, but this one is definitely our oldest song that we still play. We had this song written well before everything else on this album. The rest of the album was written over the past year but Hard to Say Goodbye was written about 3 years ago. We just always connected with it, and that’s why it stuck.

Can you tell us a bit more about your upcoming album American Heartbreak?

American Heartbreak has been in the works for a long time. This album that is coming out is much different from the album we had a year ago. The album encompasses a lot of our personal experiences. We wanted to write something true about our lives, instead of writing songs we thought we had to write. The album lyrically and musically is as real and true as we could make it, and we’re very excited to share it with the public.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Zac Brown Band would be an awesome collaboration! They have such a great group of talent, and have written with every style of music. They know how to write catchy riffs and melodies. Some of their musical arrangements are mind blowing! It would be great to learn from them.

What’s the alternative scene like in New Jersey at the moment?

New Jersey has a great music scene. There are so many different styles and players and for the most part everyone is very supportive of each other. There is a ton of talent around here that people need to watch for!

Will you be touring at all this year?

With the release of the album we hope we can gain enough traction to jump on a tour going into this year or next.
