Glasgow punks Heavy Rapids are proud to announce their new single Infected Nightmares (Frankenstein) today. The track combines eerie guitar riffs and thundering drums with the ringing vocals of vocalist Dillon Squire-Strong. He explains “Infected nightmares is all about confusing relationships which have been affected by social experiments. It’s an angsty love song”
| Infected Nightmares (Frankenstein) follows previous single Going Down, which has garnered support from BBC Radio 1, 6Music, Radio X, Amazing Radio, The Skinny and NME – who featured Heavy Rapids as one of five bands flying the flag for Glasgow’s burgeoning punk scene. | Music was instilled in Dillon from an early age as he glanced over his parents record collection. “The first record I remember listening to was Screamadelica by Primal Scream. It gathered dust for a while because I thought it was some kind of of metal record when I was aged eight or nine. I got bored one day and stuck it on, it opened with ‘Movin’ on Up’, and I was wowed. I watched their live performances online, and that was when I caught on to the power of music and how interactive it can be”. Crossing paths with guitarist Jamie, drummer Johnny and bassist Tone through school and Glasgow’s vibrant music scene, Heavy Rapids collectively retain this curiosity for music with their sound drawing influence from the likes of Idles, Fontaines DC, Shame and Green Day. “I think being from a scene with so much history for being a progressive force in the music of the time can be both inspiring and daunting. No one’s out to get one another up here, we are all working together to pull in the attention of the rest of the country and it feels good to see that people are starting to listen.” says drummer Johnny. Kicking up dust on the UK live circuit. Recent live highlights include support to Starcrawler, Strange Bones, Bloody Knees, alongside last year’s Electric Fields festival. Heavy Rapids are itching to hit the road, with Live At Leeds, Stag & Dagger, Camden Rocks and Electric Fieldsalready in the pipeline for this year. Further shows will be announced soon.
