Self Esteem announces in-store signing and acoustic sessions, see above for dates!
Self Esteem recently released the stunning video for her new single, ‘The Best’. The video, directed by long-time collaborator Piers Dennis, was shot at ‘PROUDICK‘, a collaborative exhibition by artists and friends Lindsey Mendick and Paloma Proudfoot, curated by Marcelle Joseph at the Hannah Barry Gallery, London.
“The minute I stepped into PROUDICK, I knew it was exactly where I needed to make the video for ‘The Best,’ says Self Esteem. “Incidentally, Lindsey and Paloma had listened to an early demo of the song I had sent them almost a year ago. So work from the show was created whilst listening to it a lot – that’s the kind of profound shit that gets me off.”
‘The Best’ is lifted from Self Esteem’s highly anticipated debut album Compliments Please, due for release via Fiction Records on 1st March 2019. The record also features previous singles ‘Rollout’ and ‘Wrestling’.Compliments Pleaseis available to pre-order, with digital pre-orders receiving instant grats of ‘The Best’, ‘Rollout’ and ‘Wrestling’. Compliments Please is available to pre-order in heavyweight double vinyl, mintpack CD and as a bundle with a limited signed print via Self Esteem’s store.
Self Esteem is Rebecca Lucy Taylor, and a project which began with painting and prints and video alongside her day job writing and performing as one half of Slow Club. Since her musical divergence from the band, Rebecca has revelled in unleashing a whole version of herself with no compromises, no reducing herself, no hesitating. She would go on to write the songs that had been rising up inside her all through the years — big songs, that spoke of love and sex and chaos, that brought in huge basslines, gospel choirs, the kind of polished, provocative production she admired on the biggest pop records.
