Interview: Christmas’ Max Motherfucker talks upcoming tour dates

The punk-rock quartet CHRISTMAS, from St. Wendel / Saarland, has been touring all over Europe since 2010 and shared scenes and beds with bands such as Turbonegro, Zeke, Bloodlights, CJ Ramone, UK Subs and others.   In recent years they are well known for their remarkable live shows.
With the intention to destroy every cliché in the book, they soon discarded
this plan and decided to live up to every stereotype and destroy themselves!

We recently review the band’s latest album Scum As You Are, which you can see below!

We managed to catch up with Max Motherfucker as he talked about the upcoming tour and more!

So how has the release of Scum as you Are gone down with fans so far?

Max Motherfucker: We got a really good feedback on this! It took ages to write it, then we recorded and released it in a super short time and will all the stuff around the vinyl we released a brilliant package. It feels good to see that people recognize and like all we have done with this bundle!

What is your favourite track of the album?

Max Motherfucker: That’s a tricky question. Maybe each day another one, but probably “Army Of Losers”. In school I never had much to do with the other guys from my class. In the afternoon I always have been hanging out with my friends at the skatepark. In my time at the secondary school I probably had like five people I’d really call FRIENDS while nearly everyone else was cool with each other. So this is kinda very personal song to me.

Can you tell us something about the album no one else knows?

Max Motherfucker: The guy on the cover is the guitarplayer from a legendary NYHC band!

How pumped are you for your upcoming tour starting this month?

Max Motherfucker: I am always super excited to hit the road! I love to explore the world, meet old friends from other places and to sleep at other peoples places. It’s always cool to dip into other peoples life for a night, see how other people live, chat with them all night, hear storys of their life. Maybe that’s the most exciting part at all!

Is there any venue you are most looking forward to playing?

Max Motherfucker: The dolls house in Abertillery is my favourite place at all! If we’d had the dolls house in St Wendel, our hometown, I’d move in there! Andrew, Darrel, Andrew, Phillip, Dan,… all these people are brilliant fools! Some of the craziest and best people on the world!
We never played the other places before, but also in Manchester we always had a brilliant time! Bexhill-On-Sea has to make us fall in love with them first, but we are optimistic that they are perfect Romeos!

Will you be writing new music at all this year?

Max Motherfucker: We are always working hard on this band. We are writing songs and we tour all the year! Last year we released three singles next to the album. We will be recording a new album aswell soon and release it next year. The band is turning ten years old and we are doing a small festival where we try to get some good bands from the UK back to germany to play!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Max Motherfucker: To be honest, I just worked on some lyrics with the bassplayer of my favourite band. Be excited what’s coming, we did some good stuff together!

So you’ve got a few dates in the UK, would you consider doing any more if you were offered?

Max Motherfucker: For sure! We’d love to tour a full week in the UK again. But we’d need to find someone that takes care of our booking there or an band that takes us with them. Also I hope that the worst british idea since decades, the Brexit, is not going to happen. If it happens, small band have to stick together and subvert the tax system! We currently did not plan any more UK shows because we don’t want to cancel them in the worst case. Hopefully we can come back end of the year and people forgot even the idea of Brexit!
