Interview: Fireball’s Hottest Band 2018 Lost In Stereo talk upcoming tour and

Ahead of their appearance on this year’s ‘Fireball – Fuelling The Fire’ Tour in December, Fireball’s Hottest Band 2018, Glasgow pop-punks Lost in Stereo, recently revealed the video for their brand new single ‘Gold’.

The quartet will be appearing alongside Flogging Molly, The Bronx, and Face To Face on this year’s ‘Fireball – Fuelling The Fire’ Tour which returns for a third year next month, once more celebrating the best in punk rock, ska, reggae and roots music.

The first of two London nights and the Bristol date of the tour are now SOLD OUT with tickets for the remaining dates shifting quickly.

Lost In Stereo’s new track is the follow up to previous single ‘Save Me’, and the video for the single—recorded and mixed by Chris Marshall at 7 West Studios and mastered by Ed Woods—was filmed and edited by Carrick McLelland at Ground Level Up.

The regional winners of this year’s Fireball’s Hottest Band competition in association with Kerrang! Magazine were recently announced (see listings below for details) and will join the tour on their respective hometown shows, with one band once more set to be crowned Fireball’s Hottest Band 2019 following the dates.

The ‘Fireball – Fuelling The Fire Tour’ is your only chance to see some of the finest live bands the punk scene has to offer on one stage this December – make sure you don’t miss out. #FuelledByFireball.

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their upcoming tour and more!

So how pumped are you for the fireball fuelling the fire tour starting on Sunday?

We’ve literally been waiting the whole year for this! We can’t wait to play all of these ridiculous venues for 2 weeks straight with a crazy good lineup of other bands too. We’ve put so much work into our live sound and performance and are really looking forward to seeing how it translates onto bigger stages, so yeah, we’re unbelievably excited for this!

How did this opportunity come about?

We won the competition last year to open our local stop on the Fireball Fuelling The Fire tour, which was Glasgow. That was with Reel Big Fish and Anti-Flag, and it was absolutely nuts, easily one of our favourite gigs to date. Following that, all of the local openers on the tour were competing for the title of ‘Fireball’s Hottest Band 2018’, and to win the coveted slot playing the entire tour this year. We’re fortunate enough to have won that and here we are!

Is there any particular venue you are looking forward to?

We’re super excited for playing the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London because it’s a such an iconic venue, and I’d take a guess that none of us imagined we’d be playing that when we started this band. The fact that we get to play it twice as well as it being the first stop on the tour just adds to the excitement, and I’ve no doubt it’ll be one (or two) to remember.

It definitely will be! Glasgow is where this band truly came together and will always be home for us. The O2 Academy is where we’ve seen so many of our favourite bands over the years so playing this stage is very special to us. This will be the only stop on the tour that all of our friends and family can make, and the crowd in Glasgow is always wild, so it’s a double whammy in that regard. We’ll hopefully be firing on all cylinders by this point on the tour, so we’ll make sure that it’s a belter!

Are you working on new music at all in 2019?

Yes! And we couldn’t be more excited to release it! We’ve been working on our sound and trying to take influences from different styles of pop. It seems to be where we are naturally heading. We’ve even decided to play one of the latest songs we’ve been working on on the Fuelling the Fire Tour, so we hope everyone enjoys it!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Working with State Champs would be a dream for all of us. They’re a band that have inspired us all and every album they’ve put out is a masterclass in songwriting. They have an amazing modern rock sound, bouncing rhythms/leads and anthemic choruses that just blow you away as soon as you hear them. The first time I listened to their song ‘Elevated’ was in the studio blasting out a massive pair of speakers. Listening to that song there and then made me want to pursue music like nothing had ever done before. So that alone makes me want to write with them!

Have you got any tours lined up for 2019?

Can’t say for certain just yet, so you’ll just have to wait and see!

What do you all get up to in your spare time?

Ellis spends hours on YouTube watching videos on how to use a plugin he’s spent all month saving up for. Either that or just messing around on his acoustic! Andrew spends 50 hours a week playing FIFA. Any spare time he gets he’s jamming new riffs and writing lyrics for new songs. You’ll probably find Jon playing Story So Far riffs or reading up on pedals, amps and generally anything guitar-tech related. He’s our go to fixer-upper for anything that doesn’t work! Having said that it’s a miracle he hasn’t blown himself up yet Dean’s a bit of a nocturnal creature. His life is shrouded in mystery so haven’t the foggiest what he gets up to.
