Interview: Eat Sleep Catapult

A craigslist ad gone horribly wrong, 5 guys came together in a basement to hatch up some plan to combine every different influence each member brought to the table.

Not quite punk, but not too pop; this quintet will be sure to get everyone moving. Hailing from Saint Louis Missouri, Eat Sleep Catapult aims to make every show an event filled with laughs and catchy chorus’ that’ll have you singing on the way home. Produced by Kevin Gates, their debut EP ‘Little Did You Know…’ is on every major music platforms.

Check out a sample of the band’s latest single Buspirone below!

We caught up with the band as they talk about their debut EP and more!

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

In terms of going viral or platinum?..
We’ll get there eventually, haha. We really didn’t have any expectations when we recorded “Little Did You Know?..” and just wanted to make some good music with some good friends. Everyone who hears our band name has been skeptical, but its a unique feeling when you hand them the CD, show them any track, and instantly you can see their eyes open as they realize they will have to digest and really good song. In terms of finding new listeners and building a platform; things couldn’t be better!

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

Hah, for our original release of the album, we had 10 copies of our album taped to the inside of these Imo’s (pizza) boxes and sold pizzas to people like any other self respecting punk band should do.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

We’d love to work with Metallica because they’re giving everyone a chance and we’d like to see their last album not suck in comparison to anything before “Load”.
Realistically, Damon Alburn (of Gorillaz) would be a dream collaborator because he’s touched so many genres and I know we could brainstorm something completely original.

How has your latest single been received?

Buspirone got some great steam, but not everything is cherries and peaches. It’s tough to get the song out into a place where people can be exposed to it. So far however, we’ve had a 80% approval rating by everyone who HAS been exposed to it.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

Buspirone is a anxiety medication that our singer Rease is prescribed. The song is about how the use of this drug has helped him with mental illness and anxiety.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

If you or anyone you know would love to see us in their hometown, give us a shoutout! We’re planning a big tour for this upcoming spring! Message us if you think we should extend our midwest-northeast region tour!

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Our first amphitheater, would be the dream, because at that point we know we had made it to a point where we could do what we love with our lives.

What else can we expect from in 2018?

New Music! New Videos! So much more coming out before we close the year! We have a couple new designs in the works for those who love our shirt swag, and soon we’ll have new posters from a new set we’re releasing. Pokemon players, rejoice. Thank you so much for having us and thanks again for reading!
