On Thursday night (1st November), Creeper, in a seemingly unexpected twist to end their biggest and longest show to date at Camden’s KOKO announced that they were breaking up and that the next song would be their last. Just before they ended on their hit song Misery, Will announced to the crowd the following

“Of all the shows we’ve played in this last four years, this one will remain with us the longest because not only is it the last show of this album, but it’s the last show that we’ll ever do”

At the time of him saying this and immediately after the show there was widespread upset from fans as the news travelled quickly across social media. Some fans went as far as stating that they’ve been expecting a Creeper break up was imminent whilst other fans predict that it’s in fact just a huge publicity stunt on the bands behalf which lets be serious, they’ve done it before and we wouldn’t put it past them to do it again. This of course referring to their publicity stunt after their 2016 Reading and Leeds performances in which the band was reported missing and a website appeared under the url www.whereisjamesscythe.co.uk which reported the disappearance of a man named James Scythe in 2015. The website has since been removed but the name James Scythe lives on as of Thursday. Earlier today ‘Diymag’ reported that they had found a note from James Scythe on the floor after Thursday’s show. The note reads

“Listen closely to the wind at night, can you hear my name?
Under the static Sunday strident, can you hear my name?
Kept for us a special place, beyond the moon and sea.
Every star will die tonight, even you and me.
2 for sorrow, dark and numb.
4 for joy, love for none.
See you in the next world, James Scythe”

Since this note surfaced fans have pointed out that the letters and numbers at the start of each sentence spell out LUKE 24 and in biblical terms this points to the resurrection of Jesus after being crucified on a Friday and his resurrection three days later on Sunday. This coupled with Daniel P Carter tweeting about the band and being in attendance of their last show has left fans speculating that Creeper will be making some kind of appearance on Sundays Radio One Rock Show. The show is currently advertised as a Slayer tribute but we’re hoping that Creeper make an appearance too.
