Kawala unveil latest joyful single ‘Moonlight

KAWALA make a welcome return with the release of their new single ‘Moonlight’ on October 31stthrough Mahogany Records. Harmonious, lilting vocals abound in this joyous new single.

Speaking about ‘Moonlight’ KAWALA explain, “Writing Moonlight was really the first time we’ve set our main focus on a story-telling lyric and consistent harmonies over rhythms and instrumentation. We’ve tried to balance a super chilled feel with a heart-warming positivity, while taking you on a persons’ journey in search for an escape from their mental demons.”

‘Moonlight’ is the follow-up to KAWALA’s compelling debut ‘D.I.L.Y.D’ EP, which featured singles‘Small Death’, ‘Do It Like You Do’and ‘Funky’,and has collectively reached over 7 Million streams. An incredibly strong opening gambit from the London band.

The journey of KAWALA so far has been anything but traditional. Releasing through Mahogany Records (the new venture between Mahogany Sessions and Marathon Artists), the band, led by Jim Higson (vocals) and Daniel McCarthy (guitar), came together whilst studying at Leeds College Of Music. It was only a few months before they agreed to dropout, head back to their beloved North London and start the band.

Over the course of the six months since the release of the EP’s first single – ‘Small Death’ – KAWALA picked up major support from Spotify, including four inclusions on New Music Friday UK, Summer UK Hits, Perfect Day, Indie List, Summer Indie, as well as plays at BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X and a tonne of online tastemaker support from the likes of Wonderland, DORK Magazine, CLASH, TMRW Magazine and many more.

Earlier this year they played their third sold out London headline show – this time taking to the stage at Omeara. They played two storming sets at The Great Escape, as well as appearances at Liverpool Sound City, Dot To Dot Festival andNeighbourhood Festival. This autumn they head out on BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders presents Hopscotch Tour alongside Apre and Sun Silva. Tickets on sale now here.
