;The Displaced; is a song that attempts to humanize the refugee crisis that has been an ongoing issue for several years now. In today’s fast moving media cycle it’s easy for a story about stranded migrants and refugees to get buried in between outrage at what a certain president said on twitter and just as easy to forget that those are real people with hopes and dreams of their own. The members of the band were really affected by the courage it must take for those fleeing to risk both the lives of their families as well as their own just to try and find safety.
Having the lyrics in the video was the best way to translate both the brevity of the lyrics and show just how widespread these areas are that are gripped in crisis through the use of maps.
