Interview: Weekend Recovery talk upcoming EP

Weekend Recovery are set to release their new EP ‘In The Mourning’ on 27th September 2018. They recently supported bands such as INK (Dougie Poynter from McFly’s new band), Svetlanas, The Kut, and set to be sharing stage with Ferocious Dog and Skating Polly. The band have also played at Camden Rocks Festival, Rebellion Festival, and Tramlines Festival earlier this summer. Check out the EP title song below!

We caught up with lead singer Lori as she talked about the upcoming release and more!

So how pumped are you for the release of of ‘In The Mourning’?

SO excited! It’s a little different to our previous songs – a little less punky and a little more commercial and dancy – we recorded with Dan Lucas at Anchor Baby Recording Company who’s ace – he just totally got what we wanted and added even more than we could ever have done.

What is your favourite track from the EP?

My favourite track is Bite Your Tongue – Owen wrote the music for it but the lyrics just kinda happened – it’s got so many highs and lows its a really interesting track.

Can you tell something about the EP no one else knows?

I was in tears singing ‘I’m not that girl’ it’s a really personal track to me – it’s about not feeling like you belong and have to fit a mould when you don’t quite, almost like fitting a square into a circle.

Did you get any pointers from Dougie Poynter when supporting INK?

Mainly just being nice – and how to pose for photos haha! He’s a super down to earth guy – very quiet – but brings it on stage!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

OMG it would have to be Jack White – he’s so experimental and uses a lot of analog – plus he’s the coolest dude on the planet – I always get so excited when he brings anything new out as it’s always very different to what we’re used to in the charts.

Will you be touring at all this year?

Oh yes! We’ve already done over 30 dates with another 20 to go – I think at this stage it’s about getting your name and music into as many peoples ears as possible.

What was the first ever gig you went to?

It would have toe be Muse at Wembley – with support from My Chemical Romance and Biffy Clyro – what a first gig that was to go too!

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

Well I’m starting my degree in law and criminology – but I do like to play a lot of Final Fantasy in my spare time too! I’m a nerd through and through!
