Jaret Reddick and Kelly Ogden announce album

Bowling for Soup and the Dollyrots have been friends and tour-mates for over decade so it only makes sense that after years of hearing and singing each other’s songs a special musical collaboration would emerge. Jaret & Kelly’s duets album Sittin’ In A Tree was produced by Linus of Hollywood and will be out on December 7.

‘Kelly is my best friend that is a girl or that I’m not married to… making music with her is so easy and so fun and I really do think people are going to love this stuff. No rules. Just, as she would say. “awesome!’ – explains Jaret

Sittin’ In A Tree is a multi-genre mixing album of duets that runs the gamut from pop to punk to alternative to “almost” country to dance music. This is not the first time the two have made music together, in 2012 they released their first duet titled Love Ya, Love Ya, Love Ya, with an accompanying video that has garnered over 170k YouTube view to date. In 2014 the Dollyrots and Bowling for Soup pulled a “Freaky Friday” and released One Big Happy, a 7” where they covered each other’s songs. Last year while the two bands were on tour together in the UK they played Love Ya, Love Ya, Love Ya to a full house at London’s Roundhouse, which sparked this full album collaboration.

‘Jaret is the brother I never had and my dude BFF. I think we were kind of unsure what this album would be like and turns out its super easy, natural and FUN making music together! We both wrote in some new ways and sang songs a bit differently than in our regular bands and the music sounds as free as we felt making it. Can’t wait for people to hear it!’ – says Kelly

Sittin’ In A Tree will be available via a pre-order campaign, by pre-ordering you instantly get an acoustic version of “Here We Go,” the first song that was written for the album. Also, during the pre-order campaign there will be exclusive songs and treats along the way, like t-shirts, cookies, handwritten lyrics, house parties and more.

The Heartache & Hilarity European tour will kick off on September 15 and features the Dollyrots, Jaret Reddick Solo and of course a few songs off Sittin’ In A Tree. F
